Interview with Gonçalo Pedro

How did Luza come into your life and why did you choose us to develop your career?

Luza appeared as an opportunity aligned with my experience and ambition in the field of Artificial Intelligence. With a strong background in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, and AI Solutions, I saw Luza as a space where I could apply and expand my skills while working on innovative and impactful projects.

What do you most value in the company and how do you expect to contribute to joint growth? What qualities stand out in you?

 I value the collaborative environment and the company’s focus on innovation. I believe i can contribute with my expertise in AI Engineering, Data Engineering and Cloud Solutions, helping to develop scalable and intelligent solutions. My standout qualities include analytical thinking, a strategic mindset, and a continuous will to learn and innovate.

What is your opinion about remote work and why do you think it is a good option?

 Remote work offers flexibility and allows for a healthy balance between personal and professional life. Additionally, it boosts productivity and facilitates access to global talent, fostering more diverse and innovative teams.

What are your main functions and skills?

As a Data Engineer at Luza, I am responsible for developing and optimizing data infrastructures, implementing data pipelines, and creating scalable AI solutions. I´m skilled in several BI tools (Powerbi, Tableau, LookerML), advanced analytical tools for Data Science (IBM WatsonX and Studio, Jupyter Notebook, Anaconda), cloud solutions (GCP and MS Fabric) and AI solutions (Langchain, Keras, PyTorch, hugging face, LLM´s and RAG).

What project are you involved in and what do you do?

I am currently working on developing intelligent data pipelines ensuring efficiency and accuracy in analytics. The goal is to optimize processes and create innovative solutions that drive digital transformation.

Where do you live and what do you like to do in your free time? Is there any curiosity about you?

I live in Lisbon, and in my free time, I am passionate about martial arts, practicing boxing, karate, ninjutsu, taekwondo, and muay thai as a way to express myself, for I have a warrior-like spirit. I never back down from a challenge, in all aspects of life :). I also enjoy meditation as a way of feeling peace and to access to "Eureka" moments where I get the opportunity to overcome challenges in daily life, sports (football, basketball, volleyball, korfball), and gym training (hypertrophy, calisthenics, and shadowboxing). A fun fact about me is that despite the fact that I might look serious and somewhat boring, I am funny as well, and I can make everyone around laugh with my witty humor, unexpected jokes, and lighthearted energy. I believe that a good sense of humor makes any environment more enjoyable and helps build strong connections with people. 😊

What do you expect from the future?

I hope to continue growing in the field of Artificial Intelligence and contribute to projects that have a real impact on society. My ambition is to stay at the forefront of innovation and explore new ways to apply AI and Data Science to solve complex challenges.
