Interview with Inês Portela

How did Luza come into your life and why did you choose us to develop your career?

At my previous company, I began to feel undervalued and unmotivated, which led me to search for new opportunities. I turned to LinkedIn and came across the opportunity to work at Luza. After an initial conversation, I realized that both the job offers and Luza as a company were aligned with what I was looking for. I wanted a new professional experience that would challenge me and take me out of my comfort zone, while offering the chance to work with international markets, learn, and grow professionally. The dynamic team, along with Luza’s open and transparent communication culture, focused on employee well-being, convinced me that this was the right place to continue developing my career.

What do you most value in the company and how do you expect to contribute to joint growth?

What I value most in a company is how it communicates and deals with its employees. A company's approach by supporting and offering benefits to its employees is the key because happy employees lead to a successful company. I also highly appreciate the company’s vision and values for future growth, combined with a work environment that promotes collaboration and mutual growth among all team members. I believe one of the strengths I’ve noticed is the close and direct communication between all levels of leadership, which creates an atmosphere of trust and openness.

What is your opinion about remote work and why do you think it is a good option?

In today's world, I greatly value remote work as it offers significant flexibility and time management benefits. It eliminates the need to spend countless hours stuck in traffic, allowing me to use that time more productively. Remote work also provides me with the freedom to work from several locations, which can increase my creativity and overall job satisfaction. I believe that this flexibility not only helps improve work-life balance but also fosters a more motivated and engaged workforce, ultimately benefiting both employees and the company.

What are your main functions and skills?

My entire professional experience is related to data analysis, which is something I am passionate about. This area is changing constantly with new updates and tools, allowing more effective analysis and helping large companies in their decision-making processes. I have worked with some different BI tools, but my main expertise is in Power BI using Microsoft’s ecosystem of tools to perform analyses and highlight key insights for businesses. This combination of technical skills and a love for data makes my work both challenging and rewarding.

What project are you involved in and what do you do?

I am currently working with an international client on a project that involves migrating their BI tool from Sisense to Power BI. My role includes replicating data models and creating new reports to ensure a smooth transition to the new platform. At the same time, I am continuously updating my knowledge and gaining expertise about Microsoft Fabric. This project not only allows me to apply my existing skills but also provides an opportunity to expand my technical capabilities in Power BI and other Microsoft tools.

Where do you live and what do you like to do in your free time? Is there any curiosity about you?

I live in Porto, in the city of Matosinhos, although I’m still a bit far from the beach. I love traveling, discovering new places, exploring different cultures and traditions, and trying different foods. I work to be able to travel 😅, as it’s one of my biggest passions. I also love the beach and enjoy watching the ocean. A fun fact about me is that I practiced ballroom dancing for five years, something I would love to pick up again in the future.

What do you expect from the future?

I expect to continue growing professionally and gaining more knowledge in data analysis, and perhaps even in other areas as well. I look forward to taking on new challenges and being pushed out of my comfort zone, as this is how I develop the most. I also hope to make a positive contribution and help Luza evolve and grow in the future.
